Seismic upgrades were necessary due to the fault\u2019s \u201ccreep\u201d producing numerous cracks, offsets, and gaps in the structure. The historical value of the stadium had to be considered since it was modeled on a Roman Coliseum and is on the U.S. National Register of Historic Places.
