{"id":2024396,"date":"2018-08-23T07:56:37","date_gmt":"2018-08-23T13:56:37","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/csengineermaga.wpengine.com\/?p=2024396"},"modified":"2018-08-24T07:55:07","modified_gmt":"2018-08-24T13:55:07","slug":"san-diego-airport-authority-to-host-industry-forum-for-airport-development-plan-projects","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/csengineermag.com\/san-diego-airport-authority-to-host-industry-forum-for-airport-development-plan-projects\/","title":{"rendered":"San Diego Airport Authority to host industry forum for Airport Development Plan projects"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>San Diego \u2014 The San Diego County Regional Airport Authority will host an Industry Forum for design and construction businesses to discuss plans for Phase 1 of the Airport Development Plan (ADP) including the replacement of Terminal 1. The ADP is a master planning effort that addresses the region\u2019s air travel demand through 2035.<\/p>\n<p>The Industry Forum will be held Aug. 28, 2018 from 9:30 to 11 a.m. at the San Diego County Regional Airport Authority Administration Building (Third Floor, Board Room), 3225 North Harbor Drive, San Diego.<\/p>\n<p>Provided that state and federal environmental review processes are completed successfully, and the Airport Authority chooses to proceed with the project, Phase 1 of the Airport Development Plan would be divided into four separate procurements of varying size, each beginning with a Request for Qualifications (RFQ).<\/p>\n<p><strong>Terminal and Roadways<\/strong> \u2014 Phased construction of a new 30-gate terminal building; new entry, circulation, arrival, and departure roadways; pedestrian bridges, demolition of buildings; surface features and utilities; new and relocated utilities; storm drainage collection, storage, and transmission facilities; and a central utility plant upgrade.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Administration Building<\/strong> \u2014 New administration building for the Airport Authority.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Airfield Pavement<\/strong> \u2014 Terminal apron, taxiways, and overnight aircraft parking with associated lighting, signage and utilities.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Structured Parking<\/strong> \u2014 Should the Airport Authority determine there is enough parking demand, a multi-story parking structure to serve Terminal 1 may proceed.<\/p>\n<p>The Airport Authority expects that team compositions may change for each procurement.<\/p>\n<p>The Airport Authority\u2019s expected timeline for moving forward with the four procurement packages is as follows:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Issue Design-Build RFQ for Terminal and Roadways: September 2018<\/li>\n<li>Award Terminal and Roadways: Spring 2019<\/li>\n<li>Issue Design-Build RFQ for Administration Building: Early 2019<\/li>\n<li>Award Administration Building: Summer 2019<\/li>\n<li>Issue Design-Build RFQ for Airfield Pavement: Spring 2019<\/li>\n<li>Award Airfield Pavement: Fall 2019<\/li>\n<li>Issue Design-Build RFQ for Structured Parking, dependent on parking demand: Late 2019 or early 2020<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>The forum is intended for prime design-builders along with the lead architects, structural engineers, and civil engineers who will comprise the core design-build teams to which the Terminal and Roadways procurement package will be restricted.<\/p>\n<p>Other team components and disciplines will be added after an award has been made to a core design-build team.\u00a0 The Airport Authority will work collaboratively with the selected contractors to maximize outreach and opportunities for construction subcontractors and for other design disciplines.<\/p>\n<p>The Airport Authority is committed to creating a level playing field that attracts businesses of all sizes, and that provides opportunities for workers of all genders and ethnicities.<\/p>\n<p>For more information about the Industry Forum, contact Rebecca Bloomfield at <a href=\"mailto:rbloomfi@san.org\">rbloomfi@san.org<\/a>.
