The contract is part of the Environment Agency\u2019s ongoing work at a weir on the River Tamar adjacent to the bridge.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">The work will involve the rebuilding of a failed stone wall, dewatering of the working area and important focus on control of the water quality throughout.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">For centuries, Polson Bridge was the main entry point into Cornwall and, since the addition of Launceston\u2019s dual carriageway bypass, is now just a few hundred metres from the current A30 route.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Fiona Moore, Divisional Business Manager at Land &amp; Water, said: \u201cWe are extremely excited to be delivering these works alongside the Environment Agency in the Devon and Cornwall region.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">&#8220;Land &amp; Water will be working collaboratively with the Project Manager within the Environment Agency and their team to ensure procedures are adhered to and the surrounding area is protected as much as possible.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">\u201cOnce we have finished at Polson Bridge the works will help to protect this important Gauging Station for years to come and protect the natural river banks from further erosion\u201d. <\/span><\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Leading wet civil engineering firm, Land &amp; Water, is set to start a six week project at Polson Bridge on the Devon, Cornwall border starting this month.
