VANCOUVER, WASH. \u2013 A new\u00a0<\/a>online open house<\/a>\u00a0sharing details and asking for community comment about work researching and identifying historic and archaeological areas in and around the bi-state\u00a0Interstate Bridge Replacement program<\/a>\u00a0is now available. Comments can be submitted through Thursday, May 18.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The\u00a0online open house\u00a0is part of a\u00a0robust cultural resources consultation process federally mandated under\u00a0Section 106 of the National Historic Preservation Act<\/a>, which requires consideration of the potential effects of projects on historic properties.\u00a0Community feedback is essential in this process to better understand these important historic sites and accurately analyze potential effects of program work and investments.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Any adverse impacts to historic properties identified will be avoided, minimized or mitigated where necessary. A Programmatic Agreement is expected to be completed in late 2024, which will cover any mitigation efforts agreed upon by consulting parties and stakeholders, including federal agencies, federally recognized tribes, project consulting partners and the general public.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Details:\u00a0<\/strong>The\u00a0online open house will be available 24\/7 for 30 days during the public comment period and offers the chance to attend at any time that fits in with attendees\u2019 schedules.
